Our Tour Operators in Israel are always going to make sure your next pilgrimage to Israel will be a never forgotten experience. We understand that making your trip most effective and organized is of utmost importance.

That is what we are here for when planning Holy Land Tours, for you, and this is our mission.

We have experienced licensed guides arranging and organizing Holy Land Tours and together with us the Tour Operators in Israel, we are always on the lookout for new and interesting sites to suggest to our customers.

Our recommendation for today:

What do we mean when we talk about “The Path in the Land of Monasteries”?

We are referring to an area near the River Jordan, north of the Dead Sea ( lowest place on earth), approximately 10 km east of Jericho. It is close to the border between Israel and Jordan. What we have here are seven abandoned monasteries on the path leading to a very special site in Christianity “Qasr al Yahud”. This site was under Jordanian rule until 1967 when Israel took over. It was closed for many years to the public.

What is so important about this area?

Your operator may suggest to you, to add this area to your itinerary. Qasr al Yahud is a popular religious baptism site on the River Jordan that Israel opened to the public in 2011. Since then thousands of pilgrims ( approximately 800, 000 per annum) have made their way to this special baptism site to experience a spiritual and meaningful baptism and prayer experience. For Christians it is considered to be the original spot where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist ( Mathew 3:13 – 17). One side of the river is the Jordan baptism site and on the other side is the Israeli side so you may find yourself waving to your neighbours across the Jordan river. It is also considered the site where the Israelites crossed the Jordan River and Elijah ascended to heaven.

For those who wish to add a bit of “nature and reflection time” to your program we may suggest you enjoy a 6km walk starting at Kibbutz Beit Haarava and ending at Qasr al Yahud Baptism site. Kibbutz Beit Haarava also includes a lot of interesting history dating back to the 1930’s when a young youth movement group of pioneers from abroad settled at the camp ( at that time it was still a camp). Your guide will explain all the history whilst you walk along the path known as the “Land of the Monasteries”.

You will pass the abandoned Deir Hajla Greek Orthodox Monastery which dates back to the fifth century and was the home to monks. Also the Romanian Church Monastery.

You can let your mind imagine the life that went on in the Monasteries all those years ago while your guide explains all the history.

The Land of Monasteries is significant in the history of Christianity not only because of the pretty Baptism site Qasr al Yahud but also all major sects of Christianity built monasteries in this area.

Imagine a “prayer” or a “mass” or a “reflection” in this awesome background in a Holy Land Tour.

As your experienced Tour Operators in Israel we are here to make sure your expectations are reached.
